I am passionate about supporting my clients by bridging the generational gaps in mental health between immigrants and their 1st, 1.5 or 2nd generation children.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, I am a 2nd generation Armenian woman who is passionate about providing culturally and trauma informed therapy. From an early age, I noticed my immigrant parents and grandparents’ persistence in instilling their cultural roots in our family. I often noticed my elders respond to the world around them with fear and extra precaution, which prompted my curiosity regarding the impact that assimilation and acculturation has on individuals and their family dynamics.
I take a compassionate, yet direct approach when working with clients who are navigating disordered eating, perfectionism, anxiety, body-image, self-esteem issues and life transitions. My experience working with eating disorders at partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care has equipped me in supporting clients throughout their journeys in eating disorder recovery. I understand that eating disorder recovery is not linear and I'm there to help guide my clients through the ebbs and flows of their journeys.
I embrace intuitive eating as well as a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework to help clients explore their relationships with body image and food. I support clients with an integrative approach that is strength based and person-centered at its core to meet each client’s individual needs. I strive to create a safe and inviting environment that facilitates recovery, personal growth and self-compassion.
